Herbal Foundations Program
Hands-on Education on an Organic Farm
Upon completion of this course, you will understand basic herbal concepts from folk herbalism, Western Traditional Herbalism, basic botany, and ecology concepts, as well as tending techniques for culinary and medicinal herbs. We will be focusing on native plants in the Midwest region and abundant backyard weeds; however, these skills are applicable throughout various regions.
Learn to identify dozens of medicinal herbs
° Learn how to create herbal preparations such as infusions, tea blends, tinctures, oxymels, infused oils, salves, and creams.
° Learn the constituents of common herbs, plants, fungi, and trees.
° Learn the contraindications of common herbs and why they should not be used at certain times or with specific individuals.
° Learn dozens of safe and effective common herbal remedies for a variety of
ailments.
° We will go through the body systems in detail and discuss particular herbs that are beneficial for those systems.
° Learn plant identification with basic botany concepts.
° Learn the art and science of ethical wild foraging.
Course Requirements
- 1–2 in-person sessions per month
- Online lessons and tests
- 1 presentation on a native herb
- Final exam
- 24 hours total class time
Dates: (September-December 2023)
Presence is required at ALL in-person classes in order to receive a certificate.

● $600
● $200 non-refundable deposit to hold your space that is applied towards balance
